With its unique ESE line, Cafés Richard has created a colourful and varied assortment. Premium coffees from different parts of the world have been hand-selected and refined by talented master roasters. One of these wonderful varieties is Sumatra. As its name suggests, the beans in this ESE pod come from the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. More precisely, from the tropical forests of the high plateaux of the Bukit Barisan mountain range. It stretches the length of the island, where the same hot, humid climate prevails. The exact name of the Arabica variety used here is "Ateng". The beans are grown here at altitudes of up to 1,400 metres. The Ateng bean is particularly renowned for its complex aromatic diversity and lingering sweetness.

During the roasting process, the master roasters at Cafés Richard transform an already perfect coffee bean into a veritable work of roasting art. From the very first sip, intense notes of dried fruit and a hint of nuts and tropical wood transport you straight to the rainforests of the Sumatran highlands.
