Di Giampaolo Caffè
"Do not go where the path may lead, but go where there is no path and leave a trail."
Di Giampaolo Caffè draws inspiration from this quote by American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson for its business.
The journey of this great Italian roaster has been marked by research experiences, innovative roasting technologies, and sophisticated taste variations, always driven by a burning passion for coffee and its perfection.
Let’s start from the beginning. In 1987, Maurizio Di Giampaolo decided to establish a company in his hometown of Ancona, on Italy’s east coast. Like probably all Italians, Maurizio Di Giampaolo loved coffee. He thus began roasting his first beans and constantly experimented with new varieties and blend ratios. Friends and acquaintances were quickly won over by Maurizio’s passion for roasting and supported his projects. Over the years, he gathered a team of high-level experts around him. Together, they worked daily on new recipes and blends, which they were able to sell locally. Since then, the company has become deeply rooted and popular in the region.
The quality of the coffee and the privileged relationship with customers spread rapidly, and Di Giampaolo coffee quickly became known worldwide. His products gained great popularity, especially in the HoReCa sector (hospitality/catering).
Over time, Maurizio’s company made several additional technological advancements to continuously improve product quality. Marketing and advertising campaigns were launched to make the brand known internationally. However, the high and consistent quality of the products remained unchanged. Di Giampaolo was eventually awarded the industry’s most prestigious prize: the “Espresso Italiano” quality certificate from I.N.E.I (Italian National Espresso Institute).
For Maurizio Di Giampaolo, a dream had come true. With his coffee, he wanted to make people smile. Today, he not only inspires thousands of enthusiasts with his creations but is also officially one of the few certified coffee roasters dedicated to the original quality characteristics of a truly Italian espresso.
The journey has been long and often arduous, but ultimately more than rewarding. "Do not go where the path may lead, go where there is no path and leave a trail." This quite accurately describes Di Giampaolo Caffè’s journey.
You are in for a beautiful sensory experience. You’ll embark on an expedition from the origins of raw beans to the aftertastes on the palate, those subtle flavor nuances. Indeed, you will experience the journey of the coffee bean, from its cultivation in the tropical forests of Brazil’s highlands to the final golden drop in your cup.
Di Giampaolo Caffè has made this principle of aromatic travel its business philosophy. The brand’s packaging design features recurring topographic symbols. On the pouches, you can see a drawn map indicating latitudes, longitudes, and distances—a metaphor referencing the roasting process and the long journey the bean undergoes, all aimed at achieving the best possible taste.
The quote also means taking charge of one’s destiny and pursuing one’s goals with perseverance—a life wisdom that Maurizio wishes to pass on to everyone. To reinforce this geographical concept, Di Giampaolo chose well-known Mediterranean winds to name his blends. Reflecting their weather characteristics, there is Libeccio, a strong and warm aromatic blend, or Scirocco, mild and balanced.
In this way, Di Giampaolo Caffè not only developed a unique and original concept for itself but also created lines that will be remembered for their taste and distinctive names.
