Caffè Mauro: excellence since 1949

Through the passion, dedication, and vision of Demetrio Mauro, the Calabria region of Italy has been producing a delightful coffee with colorful and spicy aromas for quite some time.

The story of this roasting company dates back to Demetrio’s early professional experiences, which led him, as a young boy, to work and sail on various ships, eventually inspiring him to pursue an independent career. After an initial independent venture with a travel agency in Italy’s then African colony, Demetrio’s desire to return home led to the founding of the renowned coffee factory in the province of Reggio Calabria.

What began as a small enterprise destined for greatness, Caffè Mauro promised to uphold the traditions that had always defined its unique coffee.

With its slow roasting processes and rigorous bean selection, the brand offers a broad range of delicious blends, available in both whole bean and ground formats.

The Coffee from the Sea

Demetrio’s experience as a young entrepreneur sailing along the African coast sparked the idea to become a successful businessman.

During his journeys, he became acquainted with the unique characteristics of coffee beans and was inspired to bring these flavors and aromas to his beautiful homeland, Italy.

A visionary, Demetrio brought his coffee to the shelves of grocery stores throughout southern Italy, transforming his small company into a leading economic success.

Today, his successors remain firmly rooted in the land where it all began, yet with a strong focus on the future: Caffè Mauro is committed to developing greener technologies and packaging to protect the land to which they owe so much.

A Coffee Known Worldwide for Its Smooth Roast

Over the years, Caffè Mauro has expanded its network of contacts. It has now established a global presence, participating in prestigious fairs and competitions, such as Host Milano, the international exhibition for the Ho.Re.Ca. sector.

The secret to its success lies in its unique eighteen-minute roasting process. Although this process incurs higher production costs, it allows for intense aromas and a bold, distinctive flavor that highlights the quality of beans from around the world.

This is achieved using advanced computer technology, which enables a unique “roasting curve” for each variety of coffee bean. This method eliminates the risk of over-roasting or flattening the flavor profile of the beans. In particular, the slow roasting process gradually evaporates the moisture in the green coffee beans without creating an undesirable “popcorn effect.” Sugars are allowed to caramelize without burning, while the coffee’s essential oils, responsible for its aromatic properties, are preserved and even enhanced. The result is an aromatic, full-bodied coffee with balanced flavor properties.

Caffè Mauro sources coffee from El Salvador, Brazil, India, Ethiopia, and other regions, offering a wide range of blends from mild to strong, each suited to the unique qualities of the growing regions.

The brand has always adhered to a clear production philosophy: to provide its customers with superior-quality blends.

Thanks to this commitment, Caffè Mauro is now present in over 35 countries and seeks to expand further, sharing authentic Italian coffee with the world.
